Prof. Xiaoqing Feng and Associate Prof. Lihua Yang were invited to attend the Conference on Innovation and Communication Law from Jul. 6thto 7th, 2015. The theme of this conference was “New Technology, Innovative Mode, and the Impacts on Intellectual Property Law and Communication Law”. The specific topics included 1. New technology (for examples: Data Excavation, IT, Biotechnology, Communication Technology) and its challenges to Intellectual Property Law as well as Communication Law; 2.Innovative Mode (for instances: Makers, Makerspace) and its impact on Intellectual Property Law and communication field; 3. FRAND Principle and its impact on communication industry.
The conference was held in the beautiful Xiamen University. The Vice-president of School of Law, Xiamen University and President of Institute of Intellectual Property, Xiamen University Prof. Xiuqing Lin hosted the opening ceremony as well as the closing ceremony. In this session, Prof. Tana Pistorius, Prof. Peter Yu、Prof. Spyridon Maniatis, and Prof. Huang Wushuan made specialized speeches. Prof. Nari Lee made the comments. In the following discussion sessions on different topics, experts and scholars conducted heartily discussion on issues like Innovation and Intellectual Property, Development of New Technology and the Challenges, etc. For example, the speech by Prof. Susan Corbettwas “Freedoms on the Internet: Online gambling and the domain name system”, Prof. Marty Adelman made speech on the topic of “Induced infringement in United States Patent Law and its failure to protect important pharmaceutical”, and Prof. Xiaoqing Feng made a speech on “Reform and perfection of intellectual property law: new technology challenge”.
The conference reached a great success.
