The Institute of Intellectual Property Law in China University of Political Science and Law is one of the eight institutes under the Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School (short for CCELS), which was formerly the Teaching and Research Center of the Scientific and Technology Law (TRCSTL)under the Economic Law Department.Mr. ZhongZhengPang, the Senior Partner of JinCheng TongDa & Neal Law Firm (JT&N), was the director of the Teaching and Research Center. The IIPL was founded on the basis of the TRCSTL in 2002 after the establishment of Civil, Commercial and Economic Law Department, led byDirector & Prof. XiaoQing Feng (fengxiaoqingipr@sina.com), Vice-director Prof.YuXiang Li, Vice-director &Associate Prof. Jian Chen, and Vice-director &Prof.Ying Liu. Currently, the IIPL consists of 17 eminent and passionate faculties including Prof. XiaoQing Feng, Prof. Jin Zhang, Prof. XiaoPeng Lai, Prof. YuXiang Li, Prof. LiPing Chen, Prof. Changling Zhou, Prof.Ying Liu, Prof. Shu Wang, Prof.JiXiang Cai, Associate Prof. ZuMing Li, Associate Prof. LiHua Yang, Associate Prof. Jian Chen, Associate Prof. LingDi Zhu, Associate Prof. XuanYu Zheng, Associate Prof. Yang Sun, Assistant Prof. Ping Cui, Assistant Prof. Nan Zhang. Among all faculties, Prof. XiaoQing Feng, Prof. Jin Zhang, Prof. XiaoPeng Lai are all dissertation supervisors, with the rest faculties as thesis supervisors.The Intellectual Property Law Program under the IIPL is one of the majorlegal programs at both national and university level.The IIPL awards professional PHD degree, the Master degree and includes the post-doctor research of Intellectual Property Law. For each year, about 4-10 doctorate candidates (including overseas or from TW, HK &MC) and 26 master candidates are granted the admission to the IIPL. Furthermore, the IIPL takes charge of the thesis supervision and legal education to the juris master students under the School of Juris Master in China University of Political Science and Law.

　　Above all, the Institute of Intellectual Property Law is one of the largest teaching and research institutes with distinguished intellectual property faculties and experts among all Chinese Universities. For years, the IIPL makes great contribution to legal training, teaching, academic research and social service, resulting in substantial amount of achievements.Thus far, the faculties in IIPL have published more than 100 law articles in CSSCI, and over 200 law articles in both domestic and international Core Legal Journals, including Social Sciences in China, China Legal Science, Law Science, Science of Law, Tribune of Political Science and Law, The Jurist, Modern Law Science, Journal of Renmin University of China, Journal of the Copyright Society of The USA、Journal of the World Intellectual Property.Meanwhile, the IIPL also published over twenty academic monographs such as Interest-Balancing Theory of Intellectual Property, Intellectual Property Strategies for Enterprises, Technology Innovation and Intellectual Property Strategies of Enterprises, Intellectual Property Management for Enterprises, Research of Copyright Transaction System，E-Commerce Law, Research of US Patent Law, Intellectual Property Law and Theory, Research of Intellectual Property Judicial Practice, Research of Intangible Assets and Intellectual Property System for Modern Enterprises. Moreover, the IIPL have made compilation of more than 60 textbooks like Intellectual Property Law (CUPL Elite Textbooks), Intellectual Property Law and Theory, Seminar and Theory of Intellectual Property Law (12 Volumes), Globalization and Intellectual Property Protection, Research for Forefront Issues of Intellectual Property (series textbooks), Research for Hotspot Issues of Intellectual Property (series textbooks), Innovation and Intellectual Property in China. Last but not least, the IIPL has been granted varies kinds of awards including the Second Prize and Honorable Prize of National Legal Textbooks and Academic Research Award, the Second Prize of Qian RuiSheng Research Award, the Second Prize of Beijing Philosophy and Social Science Research Award, the Second Prize of Scientific and Technology Progress Award (Provincial and Ministerial Level).

　　The faculties in IIPL receives large quantities of honors and awards due to their progressive and innovative academic contributions, and they generally hold indispensable positions in different associations or committees at either national or provincial level:one faculty awarded the Outstanding Experts in the National Distinguished Scholars Project, one faculty awarded the First-round National Intellectual Property Talents, one faculty awarded the First-round National Intellectual Property Experts Collectives, one faculty awarded one of ten Influential Intellectual Property People in Beijing (Frist-round), one faculty awarded National Excellent Intellectual Property Scholars, one faculty selected intothe Excellent Talents of New Century Projects (Ministry of Education), one faculty chosen into Excellent Young & Middle Age Teachers Projects (CUPL), one faculty as the Vice-president of China Intellectual Property Association, one faculty as the Vice-secretary of China Intellectual Property Association, three faculties as members of China Intellectual Property Association, one faculty as the member of Advisory Committee of China Intellectual Property Association, one faculty as Vice-president of China Science and Technology Law Association.

　　The faculties in IIPL also preside over large amount of research projects at national and provincial levels, including one Major Project of National Social Science Foundation of China, one Key Project of National Social Science Foundation of China, two General Projects of National Social Science Foundation of China, one Major Project under Ministry of Education, Two National Legal Theory Research Projects under Ministry of Justice, one Project of Beijing Social Science Foundation, one Research Initiation Project for Retuning Graduates of Ministry of Education, five Scientific Projects of State Intellectual Property Office with twenty commissioned projects. Also, the faculties, as main members or directors of sub-projects, participate in over twenty national level projects.

　　The faculties in IIPL have established several research centers closely related to intellectual property. For example, the Research Center for Intangible Assets Management, Research Center for Scientific and Technological Law, Research Center for Difficult Case, Research Center for Geographical Marks, Research Center for Biotechnological Law. These centers as scientific platforms strongly support the development of intellectual property research.

　　The IIPL sets up comprehensive cooperation and interaction with various kinds of institutes and agencies at home and abroad，such as the US, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Hong Kong, Tai Wan, and Macao. The IIPL frequently invites prominent scholars and experts for academic lectures or salons. As a result, the “CUPL IP Law Academic Salon Series” and the “CUPL IP Law Academic Salon Series——Master Student Level” have become indispensable channels for academic interaction and communication.

　　The IIPL also publishes the Journal of Intellectual Property, CUPL in electronic version, with the intent to upgrade into paper-based version in the future.
