The Seminar was held in Nanjing and hosted by Zhongnan University of Economy and Law, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Protection Division of State Intellectual Property Office, Copyright Division of SAPPRFT. Meanwhile, other participating organizations includes Intellectual Property Protection Center of ZUEL, Intellectual Property School of NUST, China Coordinate Innovation Center of Intellectual Property, Tencent Corporation, State IP Protection and Research Base, State IP Strategy Research Base, State IP Training Base (Hubei), International Copyright Research Base of State Copyright Office, IP Center under Ministry of Culture, Indigenous Culture Development Center and Legal Research Base under Ministry of Culture, Jiangsu IP Development and Research Center, and Coordinate Innovation Center for Intellectual Property and Regional Development. Moreover, the supporting agencies covers Jiangsu Intellectual Property Office and Wuhan Science and Technology Office (IP Office).
The Seminar invited a number of prominent IP scholars and experts at home and abroad and the total number of attenders exceeded 500. Prof. Handong Wu, distinguished professor of ZUEL, director of Intellectual Property Research Center, honored president of IP School of NUST, hosted the opening ceremony of Seminar. Other participants subsequently made speech on the opening ceremony, such as government officials from People’s Government of Jiangsu Province, President and Prof. Canming Yang of ZUEL, Prof. Xiaofeng Wang of NUST, President of China IP Research Association, former Director of SIPO, Professor of ZUEL, and President of IP School, honored president Lipu Tian of the Broad of IP School in NUST, President of China IP Law Research Association and Professor Chuntian Liu of Renmin University, and Vice-president Bojiang of Tencent Corporation.
The thesis speech was held in the morning from 9:40 to 12:00 of 18th, and executive vice-president of China IP Law Research Association, Director of IP Center of China Academy of Social Science, and Prof. Mingde Li with Prof. Ping Zhang of Peking University jointly hosted the speech. The spokesmen of the speech included former vice-president, Prof. of ZUEL, and honored president Jingchuan Wang of IP School—Some Thoughts on the Building of Intellectual Property for Country; Director of MPI, honored Prof. Reto M. Hilty of LMU—Building a Powerful IPR Country; Vice-presiding judge of Civil Law Division of the Supreme People’s Court—Development of Intellectual Property Judicial Protection; Academician of Australian Academy of Social Science, Professor of Australian National University, director of Knowledge Management and Development Center Peter Drahos—the Regulatory State and Intellectual Property; Senior Officials of Jiangsu Intellectual Property Office; Professor Graham Dutfield of Leeds University, senior researcher of Oxford University IP Center—Meeting the Challenge of an Emerging Technology: Promoting Innovation in Synthetic Biology; Prof. Genzhi Zheng of Law School of Kangwon National University—Cases related to tort theory on non-copyrightable works in KOREA.
Beginning from the afternoon of 18th, the seminar simultaneously conducted discussion of each sub-forums. The thesis of sub-forums included Sub-forum One—Culture Prosperity and Copyright System; Sub-forum Two—Brand Economy and Trademark System; Sub-forum Three—Innovative Development and Patent System; Sub-forum Four—Building Intellectual Property for Province; Sub-forum Five—Discussion on Internet Forefront Issues.
Prof. Xiaoqing Feng made specialized speech in the Sub-forum Two, and the title was Discussion on National Trademark Strategy for Enterprises and Implementation Analysis. Prof. Jing Zhang was the commentator of Sub-forum of “Copyright on Musical Works in Digital Age”.
The Seminar made Press Release of National Excellent PHD Papers in Intellectual Property Awards. Dr. Jicun Fu, PHD student of Prof. Feng, obtained the award on the paper—Value Structure of Copyright Law. Prof. Jian Chen’s paper Analysis on the Definition of Functional Limits and Determination of Equivalent Infringement was included in the Seminar papers collective.
The Seminar reached a great success.
