The Center for Intellectual Property Legal Aid, Research, and Services, CUPL was founded in December, 2012, and is the first research center for legal aid and research on intellectual property. The director of Center is Prof. Xiaopeng Lai.
The Center depends on CCELS and the researchers of Center comes from the Institute of Intellectual Property. Also, the Center hires over 20 experts as researchers from state patent administrative agencies, copyright administrative agencies, trademark administrative agencies, and intellectual property judicial agencies.
The research Center makes fully advantages of the talents in the field of law discipline and intellectual property protection on theory and practice, explores new mode of intellectual property legal aid on the basis of universities, and enhances the capability on theoretical guidance and practical participation.Moreover, the Center strives to provide legal aid and service with respect to the exploitation of intellectual property rights and provide the competitive advantages to enterprises and individuals, ensure the beneficial interaction between universities, research institutes, and enterprises, resulting in theoretical and practical contribution to intellectual property legal aid and services for the country.
The theme of Center is “Research for Truth; Services for Practice.” The purpose is to upgrade the Center into a national-level major basis of intellectual property legal aid and services.
The Center makes advantages of the open structure, flexible system, and fluency of personnel characteristics, depends on the academic and communicative platforms of CUPL, actively conducts intellectual property legal aid and services. During the period of theory research, the Center offers legal counseling on IP dynamic process, investigation, seminars, protection services, and other kinds of services in order to provide suggestions to the improvement of country’s intellectual property legal aid.
